Class Descriptions

BarreFitness

Perk’s BarreFitness is based on the popular barre technique classes that have evolved from the Lotte Berk Method, Callanetics, Yoga, and Pilates. Set to upbeat, motivating music, the unique, high-intensity, total-body, cardiovascular workout includes movement intervals to stretch and strengthen the muscle. Throughout class, the ballet barre is used for support and stability while muscles are pushed to exhaustion using light weights and balls for different challenges—followed by a series of stretches.

Body Sculpt

Tone up every muscle in your body. This weight training classes use dumbbells, steps, mats and body bars for a workout with results. Enhance muscle tone so you can burn fat with this all over body strength class.

Boot Camp

A high intensity, calisthenics driven cardiovascular workout. A workout that includes weights and cardio and will get your heart beating. This class is fun and challenging and will burn calories like crazy.

Hatha Yoga

A combination of styles, including Viniyoga and Vinyasa, consisting of flowing sequences of poses synchronized with the breath. Appropriate for all levels as the practices are adapted to your needs using easy to follow instruction.Vinyasa FlowThis challenging class will use the breath to link yoga poses in a dynamic vinyasa flow. Designed to increase strength, flexibility and balance while alleviating stress and promoting relaxation.

Nia

A sensory-based movement practice that leads to health, wellness and fitness. It empowers people of all shapes and sizes by connecting the body, mind, emotions and spirit. Nia draws from disciplines of the martial arts, dance arts and healing arts. Every experience can be adapted to individual needs and abilities. Step into your own joyful journey with Nia, and positively shape the way you feel, look, think and live.

 

Full Body Circuit

Circuit integrates cardio and weightlifting elements in a face paced, 60 minute, instructor motivated circuit.  Each exercise can be adapted to various levels of fitness.

Lean and Lengthen

An intense 40 minute cardio workout followed by extensive stretching.  A fun, high energy class designed to create lean muscles and promote flexibility.

Power Hour

Only have an hour? This is your class.  Intervals utilized to get a great cardio and strength workout. A full body workout, head to toe in just one hour!TRX CircuitThis boot camp inspired class emphasizes cardio where reps are replaced with 30 second intervals. TRX suspension training system is used. Class is adaptable to all fitness levels.

Spin and Core

All the cardio benefit of a spinning class plus stretching and a core sequence.  Early riser?  This is your class!

Sport Yoga

A challenging yoga practice to increase strength, flexibility and balance. Well suited to runners, multi-sport athletes, men and women alike. Exchange your second strength training day on a running program for this great work out.

Cardio Interval  

This high energy class is designed to improve your cardiovascular fitness and tone and strengthen your legs, abs and butt.  The first thirty minutes we do a mixture of high and low intensity cardio intervals that involve large muscle moves and calisthenics.  The second half of class is a “LAB” class that focuses on toning the legs, abdominal and buttocks muscles.  So you get the best of both worlds:  cardio endurance that pushes your anaerobic threshold to burn more fat and intense toning for the “problem” areas.  This class flies by!

TRX Body Blast

High energy strength training like you have never experienced before.  The TRX is a suspension training system where participants utilize their body weight in straps to build muscle.  A unique workout accessible to every level of fitness.

willPower & grace

A formatted fusion of postures and drills, willPower & grace® is the high-energy, cardiovascular solution that mind-body practitioners have been looking for, and the foot-fitness conditioning program that athletes need. This workout is as philosophical is it is physical; a full-body functional workout meets sports psychology. We integrate the smartest and safest barefoot training methods to strengthen your feet while progressively correcting imbalances in your ankles, knees and hips. 

Zumba

When participants see a Zumba class in action, they can’t wait to give it a try. Zumba classes feature exotic rhythms set to high-energy Latin and international beats. Before participants know it, they’re getting fit and their energy levels are soaring! There’s no other fitness class like a Zumba Fitness-Party. It’s easy to do, effective and totally exhilarating, often building a deep-rooted community among returning students.

Zumba Toning

When it comes to body sculpting, Zumba Toning raises the bar (or rather, the toning stick). It combines targeted body-sculpting exercises and high-energy cardio work with Latin-infused Zumba moves to create a calorie-torching, strength-training dance fitness-party. Students learn how to use lightweight, maraca-like Toning Sticks to enhance rhythm and tone all their target zones, including arms, abs, glutes and thighs. Zumba Toning is the perfect way for enthusiasts to sculpt their bodies naturally while having a total blast.

Free Running Club

Running Club 12-1 every Friday, New Session Starting March 2nd, all levels, free every time.

Training for a spring/summer event and would like a running partner?  Join Personal Trainers Kristin Mather and Josh Slattery every Friday from 12-1 for the Old Town Run Club.  All running levels are welcome.
